25th Annual Freedom Breakfast – Nov. 10, 2020

This year's Freedom Breakfast at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord (5555 Concord Pkwy South) will be a spectacular DRIVE-IN celebration of the "25 Years of Commitment" that CAROLINAS FREEDOM FOUNDATION has dedicated to honoring veterans!  More than 500 veterans, sponsors, first-responders, and guests from the surrounding NC/SC community will safely gather at this LIVE EVENT to honor those who served our country in the Armed Forces. 

To officially usher in Veterans Day, attendees will DRIVE-IN utilizing their personal vehicles to maintain social distance while maximizing attendance and celebration capacity. The event will showcase live components such as: Color Guard and National Anthem, a fly-over followed by a motorcycle and classic car parade, a military welcome, and a racing invocation. Attendees will enjoy a premium boxed breakfast and witness the inaugural presentation of the Col. J. Quincy Collins Freedom Award  before viewing a special Premier from nationally syndicated and award winning TV show LIFE IN THE CAROLINAS

A previous year's Freedom Award recipient was 10-year-old Myles Eckert from Ohio. You may remember Myles' story from February 2014 when he found a $20 bill in the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel in Ohio. Myles saw a service man in uniform and wrote him a note with the $20 bill enclosed, to pay it forward. Watch the video story below.

 Each year, the Carolinas Freedom Foundation presents its prestigious Freedom Award to an individual or a group who has distinguished him/herself by serving our country and its citizens selflessly, and with total dedication to further the cause of freedom. Past winners include General Hugh Shelton, former Mayor John Belk, Senator Jesse Helms, Ross Perot, World War II veterans, the USO, the Medal of Honor Society, former POW COL Quincy Collins, portrait artist Kaziah Hancock, Purple Heart Homes, Roddey Dowd, Sr. and Dr. Charles Tsui (Charlie Two Shoes).

In a solemn ceremony to honor all veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, the Carolinas Freedom Foundation conducts an annual Wreath Laying Ceremony in Uptown Charlotte. This corresponds with the signing of the WWI Armistice or end of War I, which was held on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 marking the end of hostilities with Germany.
